Thoughts, Feelings, Behaviour, Results
Life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you react to it - Charles R Swindoll
I needed to remind myself of this today, do you?
🌱 Our thoughts are like seeds planted in the fertile soil of our minds. They have the potential to grow into beautiful flowers or tangled weeds. The way we think influences how we feel, how we act and ultimately determines the results we see in all areas of our lives - mental health, physical health, relationships and careers.
The Cognitive Triangle
Thoughts: These are the architects of our emotional experiences. When we encounter a situation, our interpretation matters more than the event itself. For instance, consider being cut up by another driver on a roundabout. Instead of shouting insults at them and hitting the horn in anger, what if we wondered if they had an emergency? The first response will make you feel frustrated and angry, the second response may bring about feelings of concern but ultimately will leave you in a better place mentally and physically.
Feelings: Emotions flow from our thoughts. Anger, curiosity, concern, fear - they’re all produced based on how we perceive the world. By choosing positive interpretations, we can transform our emotional landscape.
Actions: Our behaviour mirrors our thoughts and feelings. An angry person might lash out, while a curious soul seeks understanding. By mastering our thoughts, we gain control over our actions and behaviours.
Hold this thought…
Remember, it’s not just what happens to us but how we perceive it that matters. Let’s nurture a garden of uplifting thoughts, watered by curiosity and kindness. As we do, we’ll see our world bloom with positivity and happiness.
Hi Shelly, I think you're spot on when you say that our thoughts ultimately create our reality. Happy to be a new fan!
Hi Shelly, I'm finally getting around to reading your posts. Beautiful analogies ❤️. I definitely needed the reminder, not just today. My mind has been full of tangled weeds lately! Looking forward to more 😊
